Keep your eyes open and your feet moving forward, you’ll find what you need

Meredith did extensive research on trauma-focused modalities before confidently choosing ART as a safe, comfortable, client-focused, and highly effective treatment option to bring to the child, adolescent, and emerging adult clients of Move Counseling.

“During the training and certification process, I was grateful for the opportunity to experience multiple ART sessions as a client and can offer assurance of the effective nature of this counseling technique.  I experienced an immediate and significant shift in perspective and release from past and present difficulty.”

Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) is a short-term form of psychotherapy with roots in several existing evidence-based therapies but is shown to produce benefits much more quickly. ART uses a combination of creative visualization, somatic awareness, and eye movements to quickly and gently transform the way you remember and respond to past experiences and/or current troubles.

ART is rooted in trauma-focused foundations but is different from EMDR. One of the special aspects of ART is that the brain is focused on imagery and the senses, replacing the need to talk to the therapist about details of the trauma or presenting problem. ART is both procedural and creative; the client is alert, aware, and in control of the process, while the ART therapist gently guides the process at the client’s pace. With ART many people achieve swift resolution; on average, between 1 and 5 sessions. For most people, ART is a comfortable, even enjoyable, experience because the process rapidly moves discomfort toward relief.

With ART we say “Keep the knowledge, lose the pain” because you’ll still be able to recall the details of your past event or current trouble, but it can diminish or eliminate the accompanying strong emotional or physical reactions. Your brain, while focusing on the problem and engaging in eye movements, will make new connections to your strength, resilience, and problem-solving abilities. It’s an empowering experience and creates long-lasting positive change.
